You may remember we told you all about the ever-growing presence of social media in the recruitment and hiring processes, but what else does 2018 have in store when it comes to smart technology? And, just what is smart technology? These are the questions we’re going to answer for you in our blog today.
What is Smart Technology?
Smart technology is comprised of items that are exponentially increasing digital trends. In simple terms, it’s all about video, artificial intelligence, virtual experiences, and more on-screen action. These items use data science analytics to help improve the virtualization of the recruiting and hiring processes by implementing some of the trends below.
2018 Smart Technology Trends
Augmented Reality (AR)
Augmented Reality (AR) will play a large role in transforming the recruitment process. Some of the things we might see next year include digital walkthroughs of a workplace and offices to create a more interactive candidate experience.
Video
Yes, it’s true. Video has been trending, and it’s only growing larger and larger. But this time, it’s not exactly on the employer-end of things. Instead, we can expect to see job candidates using video to enhance their skills and “brand.” You might begin to see video embedded into places like LinkedIn profiles, PDF resumes, and more.
Virtual Reality
Again, virtual reality (VR) is about to take on an increasing role to benefit job seekers. Candidates will begin to use VR to enhance their skills – both hard and soft – to convey how they feel they can fit within a specific company’s culture.
Automation
In 2018, we’re going to start seeing more and more automation. Automation may eliminate some jobs, but it will also create new ones. This will be especially true in creating more skilled contractor roles that require non-repetitive job functions to be performed, while eliminating positions where repetition is common.
