Technology is undoubtedly aiding in the trend of streamlining recruitment for businesses. The first step in this is to ensure that the goals of the organization and their recruitment processes are completely aligned. If this is completed properly, technology can greatly help reduce issues with recruitment and hiring overall!
Reduce Your Time
One of the main downfalls with recruitment has consistently been the amount of time it takes to hire a candidate - from submission of a resume to the first day of work. According to a report by Glassdoor Economic Research, hiring takes on average about 22 days. However, the use of technology to streamline the recruitment process can lower this significantly. Technology can scan resumes with specific algorithms to only move forward resumes that fit the criteria the company is looking for. With large numbers of applications/resumes being submitted for a single position, this can be extremely useful and time saving. Algorithms can be set to any specific qualities or skills a company is searching for and help ensure that a candidate with designated qualifications is not overlooked.
The Interview Process
Technology can also help with the interview process. Using tools like video interviewing and having the ability to record a single interview so that multiple decision makers can watch it can be both time- and schedule-friendly. Using technology to pre-load questions and an interview schedule ensures no questions are left out. This also means that an interview can be completed with all of the information the company could possibly need, reducing the need for follow-up interviews. This makes the interview portion of the recruitment process much quicker and removes the need for higher-up employees to be present for interviews.
Identifying the Right Candidate
Removing repetitive tasks and helping to process large volumes of data, technology is a great aid to the recruitment process. Identifying the right candidate is the most crucial part of the recruitment process, and technology removes the error of passing by a qualified candidate while making sure all candidates have equal opportunity throughout the hiring process.
While technology can be a great helping-hand, it is for the most part better for lower-level tasks like those listed above. Recruiters are still vital to engaging with prospective candidates and actively choosing the best candidate from the pool of candidates that the technology filters out. When used in combination with a trained recruitment team, technology can truly help to streamline recruitment and reduce time delays in the process.
